It's a Harley! Serial 1 is a new level of e-bike experience.

We're carrying a new brand of e-bike at Spoke-n-Sport.

That's probably not surprising. Until you hear that it's a Harley. 

Well, not exactly. 

Serial 1 was developed in Milwaukee in conjunction with Harley-Davidson. In fact, the brand name pays homage to "Serial Number One," the nickname for the oldest known Harley-Davidson motorcycle. 

Now, if it was just a cute gimmick for the black-and-orange leather crowd, that would be one thing. But this e-bike is stunning in its look and technology. 

Our in-house e-bike guru Derek is effusive in his praise for the Serial 1. (Pics from Derek below.)

"It's the most bad-ass bike on the market," said Derek. 

Why?

Consider these innovations.

The Serial 1 has an internal continuously variable transmission, or CVT, that operates similar to a snowmobile, or most Nissan cars. The CVT on the bike is housed in an internal rear hub and essentially allows for the smooth transition through ratios without shifting from one gear to the next. 

"The CVT eliminates the need to ever worrying about changing gears," said Derek. 

And it's driven with a belt drive rather than a chain.

"The belt drive is hassle free," he said. "And you don't have to worry about a messy, greasy chain."

The attention to detail and innovations on the bike are amazing. 

It has built in lights, as most e-bikes do. But the Serial 1 has an LED day-running lamp, which lights up the logo on the head tube. Then you can turn on the main light when it gets dark. Tail lights are also built into the dropouts on both sides. 

"You are well-lit and safe any time of the day," said Derek. 

Serial 1 has several different models. We are currently carrying the Rush/CTY Step Over and Rush/CTY Step Through. 

But all the bikes are beautifully designed with features such as a glove box to store your lock or other items. 

“All the cables are tucked away inside the bike for less maintenance and more fun,” said Derek.
